Radebeul. An era on Winzerstraße in Radebeul will come to an end in the next few days. The baker couple Katrin and Heiko Trepte are closing their eponymous bakery at the end of June. The team is saying goodbye with a personal message on the front door: "After 25 years, we would like to thank our dear customers for their loyalty," they write on a note, announcing that the business will be closing at the end of the month for health reasons.

The bakers don't want to say any more to Sächsische.de. "I don't want a big farewell ceremony," says Heiko Trepte. But he does have one piece of good news for his customers: the business will continue. A successor is due to move into the premises at the beginning of July, so that bread, rolls and other baked goods will continue to be available on Winzerstraße.

Trepte bakery has received several awards

The Treptes had the business, where the oven has been fired up since 1867, was taken over in 1999. They have always attached great importance to the quality of their baked goods, using traditional ingredients and following the old rules of the trade. Breads are matured in an old oven without the use of leavening agents. This has also been recognized by the testers of "Der Feinschmecker" magazine. The Trepte bakery was awarded several times in this as one of the best bakeries in Germany.

In 2017, the Trepte bakery received an award from "Der Feinschmecker" magazine for the second time.

The Treptes were not lacking in creativity either. During soccer highlights such as the 2018 World Cup the team sold soccer bread and Germany baguettes. Once again this year, there will be a soccer tournament with the European Championship at home. But the Treptes will have closed their bakery before the final. June 21 will be the last day of sales. "The last two weeks will be used intensively to say thank you. Let us surprise you," says the message to customers.
