Freiberg. Freiberger Brauhaus wants to set an example for progress and sustainability with a new hall for sorting empties. Managing Director Holger Scheich, Operations Manager Jan Stirl, Lord Mayor Sven Krüger (Freie Wähler Mittelsachsen) and Building Mayor Martin Seltmann grabbed a spade themselves at the start of construction.
The construction of the new hall for the empties sorting facility should be completed by the end of this year. "The building will cover an area of almost 1,200 square meters and will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology for sorting and reprocessing empties," explains Andrea Berndt, spokeswoman for the Radeberger Gruppe. The facility will enable the Freiberg brewery to meet the growing market requirements even better.
Brewery plans additional truck parking spaces
In addition, the traffic connection on the B 101 coming from Siebenlehn will be redesigned and provided with a left-turn lane. "This will optimize the flow of traffic and make access to the brewery site much easier for suppliers and visitors," says Andrea Berndt.
Additional truck parking spaces and a central forklift loading station are also planned. In total, the area will be expanded by almost 5,000 square meters. The project marks a milestone in the company's history and underlines its ongoing commitment to greater efficiency.
Holger Scheich, Managing Director of Freiberger Brauhaus, is committed to Freiberg as a business location, is delighted with the new hall and emphasized the good relationship with the employees: "Without the support of the workforce, the development that we can show here and the result of which is ultimately this extensive expansion of our premises would not have been possible." A planning team of technicians and preferably regional tradesmen are involved in the project.
Freiberger Brauhaus is a steadily growing company with more than 150 employees. A total of six new pressure tanks, each with a capacity of 1,500 hectolitres, were installed in the run-up to the ground-breaking ceremony and in September 2023. This will enable the company to respond to the increased volume growth. (SZ)
