Heidenau. It had been in the former Heidenauer Wertkauf since 1994 and 30 years later, at the beginning of 2024, it was the first business to find a new address after the closure of the Heidenauer Real on Bahnhofstraße in Heidenau was announced: the Korfi Tours travel agency. It is now clear that the travel agency will be back when Kaufland opens in the former Real at the end of May 2025.
The contract has now been signed, says Korfi Tours Managing Director Kathrin Korfmacher-Pollul. At the end of April, the travel agency, like other tenants, should get its space and then be able to set everything up before the opening. "It was clear to us from the start that we wanted to return," says Korfmacher-Pollul.
Shopping center as an ideal location
At the temporary location in Heidenau town center, the travel agency lacks walk-in customers. Although they have good regular customers, sales would decline in the long term. A shopping center is ideal for a travel agency, as is the location of the new Kaufland on the city limits of Dresden, which is also easily accessible from Müglitztal. City centers are not so favorable for travel agencies, which is also noticeable in Pirna. "We are pleased that we can move back," says Korfmacher-Pollul.
Kaufland is currently concluding contracts for Heidenau one by one and has announced that it will be announcing further names shortly. These include the bakery and the butcher. So far, only the fashion chain AWG was certain. Opticians Apollo also wants to return, but hairdressers Klier and Schuh Mayers do not.
Next year, a store in the building of the municipal housing company WVH will be empty again on Bahnhofstrasse. Other tenants here include a speech therapist, an optician and a post and press store.
