Radebeul. A man from Radebeul took first place in the Saxony Landscape Gardening Cup, which took place in Pillnitz at the weekend. The 24-year-old Yannik Ebert, who is completing his apprenticeship at the company Schumann Gartengestaltung in Radebeul, won the competition together with his team partner Robert Kirchner, who is an apprentice at the Dresden company Werner Eyßer Schöne Gärten. The two thus punched their ticket to the German national championships in Nuremberg in September. This is according to a press release from the Association for Gardening, Landscaping and Sports Field Construction.
The Landscape Gardener Cup is the professional competition for gardening and landscaping trainees. Ebert and Kirchner achieved 300.5 out of 510 points - only around 2 points ahead of the runners-up. Head judge and planner of the garden design task Georg Kahsnitz considers the standard of all participating second and third-year apprentices to be very high. In the end, it came down to measuring accuracy.
At national level, Saxony emerged victorious for the third time at the National Cup of Landscape Gardeners in Mannheim and will represent Germany at the WorldSkills Championships in Lyon, France. (SZ)
