Brand Erbisdorf. The Mitteldeutsche Netzgesellschaft Strom mbH - known under the MITNETZ STROM brand - has reason to celebrate. The largest distribution grid operator in eastern Germany has put its 111,111 renewable energy system into operation. The solar plant was commissioned before the Easter weekend in Fire Erbisdorf in the district of Central Saxony by the framework contract company Electrical - Tippmann GmbH connected. The system with 22 modules and 8.8 kilowatt peak (kWp) will supply a home with energy in future.
"The energy transition starts at home and every individual can play their part. The commitment of our grid customers is reflected in the ever-increasing number of connection requests and registrations for renewable energy systems. In 2023, these increased by more than 40 percent compared to the previous year. The growth in solar systems and balcony systems is still in first place," says Christine Janssen, Commercial Managing Director of Mitteldeutsche Netzgesellschaft Strom mbH. Overall, photovoltaics already account for over 50 percent of the installed capacity of renewable feeders in the MITNETZ STROM grid area. Solar energy will have overtaken wind power by 2023. "Nevertheless, the feed-in volumes for photovoltaics are lower than for wind due to the lower number of hours with full feed-in," the Managing Director continued.
The company had already announced in 2023 that more and more balcony systems, electric heat pumps and battery storage systems were being connected to the electricity grid and that the charging infrastructure for e-mobility was growing. The grid operator is currently recording an increase of more than 600 percent for balcony systems, five percent for heat pumps, 70 percent for battery storage systems and 25 percent for charging boxes compared to 2022. The number of annual connection requests and registrations has increased from 35,000 to 60,000. The company expects the number of inquiries to quadruple by 2030.
