Manufacturer of super-strength glass receives innovation award

Michael Heidan from Radebeul and his team have developed a method for tempering glass. They have now been awarded the IQ Innovation Prize for Central Germany.

Radebeul/Freiberg/Merseburg. The Revisalt GmbH has developed a process that enables glass to be tempered faster, more cost-effectively and in a more environmentally friendly way. The start-up, run by Michael Heidan from Radebeul, has won an award for its technology at the IQ Innovation Award Central Germany applied - and won.

In the Energy/Environment/Solar cluster, the first prize, worth 7,500 euros, went to the young company based in Freiberg has. The jury particularly appreciated the fact that the salt used for the curing process can be reprocessed in a specially developed recycling process. The prize money went to the Envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG and the Siemens AG donated.

A total of 96 companies entered their innovations for the prizes in various categories. 47 applications came from Saxony, which also won the prizes. The Kantana Labs GmbH from Dresden has developed a platform that uses artificial intelligence to compare tumor cells from commercial samples within a few moments and thus improve cancer diagnostics. And for their quantum computer suitable for mass production, a prize also went to Leipzig to the SaxonQ GmbH.
