Leipzig. Good news for founders in Saxony. SpinLab - The HHL Accelerator according to the current ranking "Europe's Leading Start-Up Hubs 2024" the Financial Times and Statista one of the leading start-up centers in Europe. The Startup Accelerator was founded in 2014 by Dr. Eric Weber in a joint initiative with the Leipzig cotton mill, the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the MIB AG founded. A total of 125 start-up hubs from 19 countries were recognized in the current ranking. In a Germany-wide comparison, Leipzig's SpinLab was ranked second, and 12th in Europe. The evaluation was based primarily on the ratings of former users and participants. They in turn were asked about aspects such as mentoring, advice on business development, infrastructure, legal advice and financing and networking opportunities. The start-ups' track record and expert recommendations also played a role.
Ecosystem for start-ups
The ranking result confirms the position of Leipzig's SpinLab "as an important player in the European startup ecosystem", says Prof. Tobias Dauth, Rector and Commercial Director of HHL. And Eric Weber, founder and Managing Director of SpinLab - The HHL Accelerator, particularly appreciates the influence of the founders on the result. "This award is a special confirmation of the work of our team at our locations in Leipzig and Hanover. Our strategy of continuously and sustainably improving the startup ecosystems in cities with great potential is confirmed here," he says. (WiS)
