Dresden. Since its opening, the vegan butcher's shop in Dresden has not only led to enthusiastic customers, but also to many discussions on social networks - sometimes with more than questionable comments from users. Dozens of users raged on Facebook about this "slop", this "junk" and "junk", this "flower store" or alternatively this "mixing station of chemicals and other non-natural products to feed better eaters".

Now the team wants to expand its business further and is launching a crowdfunding campaign online. Together with you, we want to grow and offer our products even more cheaply and in more places in the future," they say. As the company does not "work in a classic profit-maximizing way", but with a focus on sustainability and animal welfare, the team wants to "finance itself independently of banks and outside capital", as they write. The campaign has been running since Thursday and will run until May 5, with the aim of raising 89,000 euros. As of Friday afternoon, 2,900 euros have already been raised.

The appliances to be purchased will enable the production of larger quantities, such as vacuum sausage fillers, steam convection ovens or vacuum cutters.

Everything without animal products

The store on Bischofsweg opened at the beginning of 2023. It was founded by restaurateurs Nils Steiger, Stefan Meier-Götz and Andreas Henning, among others, who are also known from the "Steffenhagen" and the "thick" and "sweet Schmidt" in the neighborhood. There are only vegan products, from meat imitations to cheese products and wine. The butcher's range includes vegan sausages, steaks, meat loaf and veal sausages for the next veal sausage breakfast. Or liver sausages and roasts. All of these are made completely without animal products. In salami, for example, the main ingredient is seitan, a meat-like food made from wheat protein. The right seasoning is important.
