Of entrepreneurial spirit and craftsmanship

In its winter edition, the decision-maker magazine WIRTSCHAFT IN SACHSEN shows which lighthouses are showing ways out of the crisis, visits the future European Capital of Culture and also looks at the skilled trades.

In good times, it's easy to make optimistic plans. And in difficult times? It's even more important. And they do exist - news and stories that speak of courage and thus provide encouragement. The winter edition of the decision-maker magazine WIRTSCHAFT IN SACHSEN contains many such examples. There is DIS AG, which is founding a new training academy in Saxony. There are several founders who produce spirits from Saxony on a traditional basis and yet market them in a modern way. There are companies and initiatives that are specifically helping to attract skilled workers to the Free State.

And then there are the many small and large ideas that will ensure that Chemnitz will be a worthy European Capital of Culture next year. The smallest of Saxony's three major cities is sometimes somewhat overshadowed by Dresden and Leipzig. WIRTSCHAFT IN SACHSEN dedicates a special focus to Chemnitz this time and shows how much entrepreneurial spirit there is in the city and its surroundings. Many companies want to use the momentum of the Capital of Culture for themselves and give something back to Chemnitz and Saxony at the same time.

Original gifts that are only available in Saxony

In the run-up to Christmas, Saxon manufactories and craft businesses are particularly in the spotlight. After all, they produce many of the very special gifts that are now known around the world. WIRTSCHAFT IN SACHSEN looked over the shoulder of a very special woodworker, visited one of only two coconut weaving mills left in Germany and compiled exclusive gift tips that can only be found in Saxony.
