Müllermilch owner Theo Müller has met with AfD leader Alice Weidel. For the Left, this makes it clear that Kretschmer should never have presented him with the Order of Merit.

Dresden. The left-wing parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament has once again criticized the awarding of the Saxon Order of Merit to dairy billionaire Theo Müller. This was prompted by his statements regarding a meeting with AfD leader Alice Weidel.

The Müller-Milch founder had previously confirmed to the HandelsblattHe claimed to have met privately with AfD leader Alice Weidel in a posh restaurant in Cannes, France, and said that he could not find "the slightest hint" of Nazi ideology during the conversation.

Left Party parliamentary group leader Rico Gebhardt said on Friday that it was the AfD's declared aim to destroy the CDU. "With the best will in the world, I can't imagine that Müller is pursuing anything other than supporting the far-right party with his contacts." Kretschmer had "really chosen a fine prizewinner". Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) had Müller 2021 with his right of initiative awards The Müller-Milch boss chose the medal himself and traveled to Zurich especially for the presentation.

Müller and Weidel both live in Switzerland

This was a mistake, Gebhardt emphasized, a "submissive courtesy honor". Kretschmer had thus disgraced the Free State and "not only mocked those employees who work for Müller's prosperity under conditions worthy of criticism". At the Müllermilch spin-off Sachsenmilch according to the NGG trade union paid well below the East German pay scale.

Müller was honored by Kretschmer for, among other things, the "creation of thousands of jobs in the district of Bautzen", but also for his commitment "to Saxon brass music".

To avoid inheritance tax, Müller moved from Aretsried in Swabia to Switzerland in 2003. He lives there in Erlenbach on Lake Zurich, on the so-called Gold Coast. AfD national spokesperson Alice Weidel also lives in Switzerland, together with her partner in Einsiedeln in the canton of Schwyz.
