Dresden. Customers of Sachsen-Energie in Dresden and eastern Saxony need not fear rising natural gas prices for the coming winter. CEO Frank Brinkmann said on Wednesday in Dresden that prices would remain stable for household and small business customers. It is true that the costs for the supply rose by 1.94 cents gross per kilowatt hour because network charges and CO2 prices were increased. However, the municipal company is bearing these cost increases and is not passing them on to customers. Sachsen-Energie is owned by Saxon cities and municipalities.
Sachsen-Energie last reduced prices for the basic supply of heating gas in June. Since then, customers of the Drewag and Enso brands have generally paid 11.91 cents gross per kilowatt hour in the basic supply, and around eleven cents in other tariffs. Brinkmann said that Sachsen-Energie was "one of the ten percent of the cheapest gas suppliers in Germany in terms of the proportion of suppliers". The company absorbs all additional costs and thus saves the residents of an average single-family home with an annual consumption of 18,000 kilowatt hours around 350 euros per year.
Envia-M lowers prices, Stadtwerke Leipzig expects an increase
Sachsen-Energie has not yet commented on the prices for electricity and district heating in the coming year. District heating has become considerably more expensive at the beginning of the year since the state price brake was removed. Meanwhile, customers of Stadtwerke Leipzig must expect to pay more for natural gas in the new year. Depending on consumption, network charges are expected to rise by up to 65 percent, as Stadtwerke spokesman Frank Viereckl told the Leipziger Volkszeitung when asked. The network fees make up around ten percent of the gas price and are charged for the construction, operation and maintenance of the pipelines.
Price changes for January are expected to be calculated and published in mid-November. The regional supplier Envia-M with headquarters in Chemnitzwhich has many customers in rural areas in western Saxony and on the Brandenburg border, has now announced falling gas and electricity prices. However, Envia-M's prices were recently higher than those of Sachsen-Energie.
